Work on YOUR track, with the artists you love as the reference, every week. Going in circles after months of tutorials? That's a feedback problem — not a knowledge problem.

Sync credits with BMG and Red Bull

You've watched the tutorials.
You're still stuck.

You've spent hours on YouTube. You understand the theory. But when you sit down to actually make something, it doesn't sound like what's in your head — and you can't figure out why.

The problem with tutorials is that they teach someone else's track. They can't tell you why YOUR bass sounds muddy, why YOUR groove feels off, or how to get YOUR idea to translate.

That's not a knowledge problem. That's a feedback problem.

Hi, I'm Pilo

From Glastonbury to Jools Holland, I've spent 15 years making music — sharing stages and studios with Nick Mulvey and Nubiyan Twist, and producing records for Blanco White, Red Bull's sync catalogue, and releases through BMG.

I also remember exactly what it felt like to open a DAW for the first time and have no idea where to start. What I wish I had was a producer sitting next to me — not a tutorial, not a checklist. Someone who could listen to what I was making and tell me what it needed.

Being a good producer doesn't make someone a good teacher. I explain the why behind every decision — not just the fix, but why it works. You leave each session understanding your track better than when you came in.

That's what these sessions are.

★★★★★

"Came in as a complete beginner with an idea I couldn't get out of my head — something close to Josephine's Ritual. By the end I had a finished track, which felt kind of insane. What I liked most is that Pilo doesn't just show you what buttons to press — he explains why, so you actually understand what you're doing. Didn't expect to finish something I was actually proud of in four sessions."
— Isabella Reis

★★★★★

"I came in as a complete beginner. I left knowing how to warp, programme drums, sculpt sounds and mix — and more importantly, I understood why each thing worked. Now I'm producing 80s pop on my own. The difference was having someone who could actually teach, not just produce."

Questions

How much do online music production lessons cost?

A single session is $35 an hour. The 4 Session Bundle is $120 for four 1-hour sessions, with no expiry. If you'd like two sessions in a month, email me: that's $50.

How do the online lessons work?

Live on Zoom, one-to-one. You pick a plan and pay through Stripe, then choose your first session time. You share your screen and we work on your own project, not a demo track. Within two hours of the call you get notes on what we covered and one specific thing to work on. The recording follows after every call.

What happens in the free session before I book lessons?

It's one free hour on Zoom, working on your track. Bring your project file, a few reference tracks and one specific problem. I send notes within two hours, and if you want to carry on, lessons start at $35 an hour. Book the free session.

How is this different from a course or another online tutor?

A course teaches someone else's track, and a free intro call is something many tutors offer. Here the hour goes on your own track, and I explain why each fix works, because being a good producer doesn't make someone a good teacher. I trained at Leeds College of Music and have produced records for Blanco White and released through BMG.

What happens after my first session?

Within two hours I'll send notes — what we covered and one specific thing to work on. If you want to continue, book again from $35. No pressure, the spot's there when you're ready.

Do I need any experience?

None at all. We start from wherever you are — even if you've never opened a DAW.

How many sessions will I need?

Depends on your goals. Some students book a few sessions to get unstuck, others come every week for months. There's no obligation — book what feels right and adjust as you go.

Can I cancel or pause anytime?

Yes. There's no subscription and no lock-in. Nothing renews automatically — book again whenever you want more sessions.

What software do I need?

Ableton Live works best but I can work with Logic and others. You can start with the Ableton free 30-day trial.

Do you only work in certain genres?

Sessions start from the artists you love, not a genre list. Name who you want your track to sit next to and we work toward that sound. I co-write and co-produce with Blanco White (folk) and Nubiyan Twist (jazz, soul, afrobeat — 13 years in the band, including Jools Holland and Glastonbury), and I'm producing Afro-Brazilian artists in Rio and across Brazil now.

What if I need to reschedule?

No problem. Just give me a heads up and we'll find another slot. You also get the recording either way.

Can I take lessons from anywhere in the world?

Yes. Lessons are live on Zoom, Monday to Friday 9am–6pm and Saturday 9am–1pm Brazil time, and the booking calendar shows each slot in your own time zone.
